Patriot’s Pen- Does patriotism still matter?
By Kaitlin Bates
As people run down the streets to their homes, buildings clasped. People scream with horror. Parents run to find their children to keep them safe. Preachers pray for hope and life. The war has just stomped on North America. This is what could happen if we didn’t have patriotism. Patriotism still matters because of many important reasons such as pride, loyalty, and war.
Patriotism comes in a lot in the section of pride or loyalty. If we didn’t have pride or even love for our country we would not be where we are now. We would not be able call ourselves real people who love the U.S.A. or any other country. Our country would basically fall apart. It would be very hurtful to say you like your country but you really don’t. Also the Pledge of Allegiance is something we use to show our loyalty to our country.
Even though Patriotism comes in a lot in pride, it also comes in, in the section of war too. If we did not have patriotism the people we fight could come and hurt us. There would not be any soldiers that love our country, will take their life or it and fight for it. North America could probably be taken over if we didn’t have patriotism. There could be a lot of deaths because of all the war on our country, so that would not be good. Now, war isn’t everything in patriotism but it is a lot of it.
While war is a lot in Patriotism there are some countries that are Pacifists. Pacifists are people who don’t fight. Those people support their country by other ways rather than war. They most likely have a pledge and an independence day. They help in wars by being drivers for ambulances and nurses for the people who do fight. Even though Pacifists don’t fight, a lot still love their country in many ways.
As you can see Patriotism does still matters in different ways. There would be a lot of damage to many different things if we didn’t have patriotism. This is all why we should not forget or lose Patriotism. It is a very useful trait to have and cherish. Hopefully Patriotism will go on forever.
