Where the Heart is by Billie Letts was about a 17 year old girl named Novalee who is pregnant. Her boyfriend, Willy Jack left her at Walmart on a road trip him and Novalee were taking. Willy Jack got Novalee pregnant but he was fed up with her so he left her. After Willy Jack left, Novalee noticed she didn't really know what to do. She decided to just stay at Walmart for a couple of months. But that was a really bad choice. She was 7 months pregnant when Willy Jack dropped her off. Now she's 9 months pregnant. The baby will be coming any day. When Walmart is open although, Novalee goes to the local library. She meets a guy, Forney there and they become really close. One day although, Novalee was asleep in the middle of the night when her water broke. The baby was coming, and there was no one to deliver it. Suddenly, Forney was walking and saw Novalee in the Walmart in pain. He broke a window and delivered the baby right when she was coming out. After that, Forney was Novalee's best friend. Novalee named her baby Americus. Sister Husband picked her up and they started a life together.Sister Husband (stranger) said she was sent by God to put grace into Novalee's life. She was thankful. Novalee become older and Americus grew up to be seven She was a big kid now, and eveyone forgot about the child that was born at Walmart. As for Willy Jack, he tries to get gigs at bars and whatnot but doesn't because he's broke.He gets drunk one day and gets his legs cut off by a train. He was just a mess but tried to come back to Novalee but Novalee was far from angry with Willy Jack. She and Forney started a life together and everything turned out happily every after for Novalee, Forney, and Americus! As for Willy Jack, he was ruined for his life.
